Fraser Lake Camp
Since 1955, Fraser Lake Camp has provided supportive and inclusive overnight camping community for kids aged 8 to 14.
Located on 273-acres of lakefront in beautiful Bancroft, Fraser Lake Camp's classic activities and incredible staff have long provided the perfect environment for building confidence, forming lifelong friendships, and creating unforgettable memories.
A Home Away From Home
Leaving home at any age can be a big deal - for you and your campers alike.
It is part of our mission to create an environment that provides young people with a sense of belonging. Which is why we prioritize creating a connected community.
As a result, we receive countless feedback that Fraser Lake Camp has become “A home away from home” for many campers each summer. Which is the best review we could ask for.
Prioritizing Affordability
A weeklong retreat in nature can be life-changing… but also expensive.
At Fraser Lake Camp, we do our best to keep our fees affordable (See “True Cost of Camp”), offer flexible payment plans, and provide donor-supported subsidy programs.
We want your camper to be able to soak up all the magic of camp. So let us know how we can help to make this a reality for your family.
A Camper, Not A Number
So many new faces could mean a chance to make new friends, or feel overlooked.
Many overnight camps have hundreds of campers a week, but at Fraser Lake Camp, we’re committed to offering an intimate experience.
With less than 100 campers a week, we offer a tight-knit campership where we get to know each child by name. This allows us to attend to each unique experience, and better provide a transformative week at camp.
Life At Camp
A week at Fraser Lake Camp is a week filled to the brim with fun, and classic camp activities.
Archery, climbing wall, swimming, arts and crafts, and canoeing are just a tiny taste of what you will experience in Fraser’s week-long overnight camp program. Your child will have opportunities each day to try a variety of activities, develop friendships, and to grow in new ways. Many Fraser Lake campers have said that their week at camp was one of the highlights of their entire year!

Parent Information
The experience of overnight camp is an irreplaceable ingredient for confidence, independence, learning, and compassion.
The type of fun that overnight camp provides is unique: Campers are away from home, away from parents, and away from friends - often for the first time. In some ways it is strange and adverse conditions to put a child in; however, this is why it is so important! Camp provides a safe and necessary starting place for growth, instills confidence, and helps campers better achieve all that they want to achieve.
Imagine sunset on the first day of camp. Basking in the evening glow of the campfire, campers are processing all the excitement and activities of the day: archery, climbing wall, swimming, arts and crafts, and kayaking. The nervous group of cabin mates they began their day with are already fast friends, and their compassionate counsellors are their leaders, mentors & heroes!
Our job is to ensure that the world’s fear and anxieties get left behind on the bus. Fraser Lake Camp is a safe place that encourages bravery through curiosity, and provides young people with a place to find themselves in new and exciting ways!

Camping with a Purpose
Teaching Spirituality in Nature
Every day, we begin our camp programming with “Morning Watch.” This features a short, interactive story or workshop that brings the camp together to help start the day with an intention.
Twice a week we host a “Chapel” which includes singing and playing music together, stories, skits, and other creative ways to foster spirituality in nature. The hope is that these sessions teach important values such as compassion, empathy, or unity, develop camp community, and help us to work towards building acceptance of all.
We then end each day with “Devos,” providing each cabin the chance to reflect on their day, sharing together, and discussing various themes to build a sense of community.
Is Fraser a Christian Camp?
In 1955, Fraser Lake Camp was founded by 3 Mennonite pastors, and many, many volunteers from within the Mennonite community. Their goal was to intentionally, and practically, live out their beliefs by giving campers such memorable experiences in nature, and feelings of acceptance, that their lives could be forever changed.
Fraser Lake Camp has always recognized that our campers and staff come from a variety of faith traditions, or non-faith backgrounds. This means that our camp community represents a diverse group of people, coming from a variety of cultures, beliefs, and bringing a wide-range of perspectives.
Today, Fraser Lake Camp’s programming still incorporates spiritual development programs such as Chapel and Morning Watch - which remain rooted in the Mennonite tradition. These programs focus on teaching the values of the Mennonite faith tradition (such as community, generosity, pacifism, and caring for creation), but make very intentional efforts to include various faith and non-faith traditions.
What unites us all, is that we are able to enter conversations around spirituality with an open mind and willingness to learn from each other.

Our Camp Standards
In order to ensure a safe, healthy and enjoyable camp environment for both campers and staff, we follow industry standards and guidelines as set out by the Ontario Camps Association (OCA) as well as our own set of operating standards. These guidelines cover everything from staff hiring, counsellor to camper ratios, health care & medications, kitchen & food production, and waterfront safety. If you would like to learn more about our camp standards and find answers to our most frequently asked questions, please click here.
Fraser Lake Staff
Ask our campers what they like best about Fraser Lake Camp and it won’t be long before you hear the names of a counsellor or staff member. That’s no surprise because they are the most important part of our program!
Many of our counsellors and staff members have a long-standing history at Fraser Lake Camp that involved coming up through the ranks as campers in the regular program and then being participants in the leadership programs for high school youth: Leaders-In-Training, Counsellors-In-Training and the Volunteer Program. All of our staff have the following things in common:
they went through an interview process, obtained a clear police check and take part in special training before and during camp
they have a genuine interest in helping children. Many camp staff end up in the teaching profession
they understand the importance of not just delivering our programs, but also promoting the life lessons based on Mennonite values that help nurture the physical, spiritual, social and emotional growth of every camper
they are committed to adhering to our code of conduct
