ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:
Community Mennonite Church of Stouffville commissioned Theatre of the Beat to create Selah’s Song in 2013. It was performed in partnership with Stouffville’s Nineteen on the Park Theatre, premiering in January of 2014. This original production acted as a community theatre project, bringing together an eclectic +40-person cast and live band, and featured many Willowgrove connections. Now in 2022, Theatre of the Beat has restaged the production as a four-person show with professional actor/musicians/puppeteers and is currently touring across Canada. We are very excited to host this production at Willowgrove.

Community Mennonite Church of Stouffville, in partnership with Willowgrove, is pleased to present: Selah’s Song, an original social justice folk musical.
Written by Johnny Wideman, with original music by Bryan Moyer Suderman, Selah’s Song tells the story of a young girl whose courage inspired a village and whose song became an anthem for peace.
Featuring puppets, a beautiful hand-painted/quilted set, and with live multi-instrumentalist folk music, Selah’s Song is a heartwarming musical that unpacks important social justice concepts of rules and when it is OK to break them in a fun all-ages musical!
