Wellness Coordinator (Camp Medic)

As the camp medic, you are a very important person on the Camp  Staff and are in charge of the health and wellbeing of the staff and campers. You are in charge of collecting and retaining the medicine for all staff and campers each week in the lockable cabinets.The camp medic must have current CPR and Canadian Red Cross or St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid.  As part of the Camp  Staff, you must also respect and follow the rules and policies of Fraser Lake Camp. Some of the weekly tasks that you will perform are:

  • Before campers arrive ensure each camper medical form is complete and placed in a binder

  • Call families to ask for clarification/additional information about camper medication, medical needs, etc.

  • Collect and record all of the camper and staff medicine on the first day of each week, distributing the medicine to the campers and staff throughout the week, and returning the medicine on the last day

  • Conduct lice checks for all campers on the first day of each week

  • Keep track of first aid inventory and inform the camp director if more needs to be ordered

  • Keep a record of all medical incidents and alert the camp director if injury occurs which requires camper to be taken to the hospital

  • Maintain the overnight kits and provide counsellors with any needed medicine for their campers and themselves for the night and the following morning

  • Ensure the Health Centre rooms are clean and sanitized for campers to use if necessary

  • Complete daily cabin inspections to maintain camper safety and document awarded points on the Cabin Fairy board

  • promotion of health and safety is a priority

  • Other various job as required by the director
