Cabin Section Supervisor

As one of two Cabin Section Supervisors, you report to the Staffing Coordinator and assist them in providing support to counsellors in either Jr. cabins or Sr. cabins. Together, you will assist the Staffing Coordinator in keeping staff morale high, supporting staff, be a listening ear and going in cabin/leading program areas. In this role you will also be supporting the Inclusion coordinator as you will not only help manage staff conflict but can act as a point person when staff require assistance with campers. As a member of the Fraser Lake team you will respect and follow the rules and policies of Fraser Lake Camp. Some of your weekly tasks that you will perform are:

  • Assist counsellors with campers whole are in need of extra support

  • Be a point person for your section when counsellors need support and advice

  • Encourage staff to seek out leadership opportunities at camp

  • participate in camp activities including chapel, campfire, wide game, special event and so on

  • Help Staffing Coordinator manage and mediate staff conflicts

  • Assist the Staffing Coordinator in planning and implementing staff events, activities and gatherings that help boost staff morale

  • Assist Staffing Coordinator and Assistant Director in writing and conducting staff evaluations and check-ins

  • Encourage staff to take care of their self-care and provide support and advice in helping them do so

  • Cover staff time off, sick days.

  • You may be asked to be in cabin from time to time as a third or primary counsellor

  • Run some program areas

  • Observe counsellors in program areas and in cabin in order to put together fair and equitable feedback on evaluations 

  • Help your section counsellors support their campers-assisting them in behaviour management, restorative justice etc.

  • Help to run devos in cabins, and cover counsellors so they can have a night out.

  • Inform the Staff services coordinator or camp Director/ Assistant Director if a staff member is in need of extra support that you cannot provide

  • Inform the camp Director or Assistant Director of any staff issues that they should be aware of (ie. staff conflict, staff breaking rules, staff feeling overwhelmed, etc.)

  • Meet at least once a week with the Staffing Coordinator 

  • Assist in greeting parents and campers during the arrival time on Sundays

  • Be prepared to go above and beyond your job description! ☺
